Julie-Noelle Joannette – LinkedIn Q&A

Julie-Noelle Joannette’s journey into leadership hasn’t been linear – and that’s exactly what makes it inspiring. With nearly 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, she has worn many hats: sales rep, trainer, marketer, agency executive, consultant, Mom to two girls, and now President of Women Leaders in Pharma (WLP).

In this Q&A, she shares how community, courage, and authenticity have shaped her leadership – and why WLP is a place where women don’t have to choose between ambition and belonging.

WLP: Julie-Noelle, how did your journey lead you to WLP?

Julie-Noelle: After years in pharma and then at an agency, I eventually started consulting – and I missed being part of a bigger team. I initially hesitated to join WLP. I told myself I was too busy. Years later, I realized what I was missing: a sense of community. I dipped my toe in as a volunteer and now, here I am – President!

WLP: You’ve led teams of all sizes and now serve as President of a national non-profit. How would you describe your leadership style?

Julie-Noelle: Empathetic and direct. I once believed being a strong leader meant having all the answers. Now, I understand it’s about helping the team connect the dots.

WLP: What is your goal for WLP over the next 12 months?

Julie-Noelle: Two things. First, I want to create a stronger thread across everything we do – a shared theme that connects our events, coaching, awards, and content, which will be shared with everyone in January. Second, as we continue to grow, I’m focused on streamlining how we work. With simple, thoughtful processes, we can make the most of everyone’s time and energy – and keep our momentum going.

WLP: What do you say to women wondering if WLP is for them?

Julie-Noelle: Don’t overthink it. You can engage however works for you. Come to an event or the Shine Bright Gala, listen to our podcast, join a coaching session, or just read the newsletter. You don’t have to go all in. There’s something for everyone.

WLP: Final question: What’s one thing you want women in this industry to know?

Julie-Noelle: You don’t need to be perfect. Just start. Just show up. Whether that’s for your career, your community, or yourself. You belong.

Julie-Noelle’s story is a powerful reminder that leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about showing up with purpose, growing through experience, and lifting others along the way. That’s exactly what WLP is here to do: empower women across the industry to lead boldly, support one another, and drive meaningful change.

Because when women rise, everyone benefits – from patients to companies to entire communities. Join us. Become a member of WLP. There’s a place for you here.
