What is the biggest challenge facing women leaders in our industry today and how do you overcome it?

Women bring different perspectives to the table that are essential in the business world. The biggest challenge is to help women not only build their skillset in business but more CONFIDENCE in their skills! Over the years, building my networking and surrounding myself with great colleagues, mentors and coaches have taught me to develop this confidence in my abilities and skills. It is a long journey!

What is the leadership/business framework you use most often to help you lead effectively?

The most effective leadership is done by people who are authentic and tend to be emotionally intelligent and passionate. We all know that it is not about what we know but about what we are that makes us great leaders….this is the path I strive to follow.

What trend in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry doesn't get enough attention?

There is still a lack of understanding/education from Canadians about current health policy challenges and the importance of our innovations and their access. With our leadership, we need to continue to create awareness and provide education to all stakeholders around the possible impact of the important challenges we are facing in our health system.

How do you maintain your own growth and development?

I am a strong believer that we can learn a lot from others and mentoring is a very useful tool that can help us to grow. For my development, I am committed to being a mentor and a mentee. I also invest in myself by taking personal development courses on a regular basis (LinkedIn Learning offers a lot of these), networking, leading projects and volunteering.

What impact has social networking, social media and Web2.0 had on you?

Really positive impact to create a strong professional network. If well used, social networks can be powerful for our career development. They have helped me to connect with great people that have had a positive impact in my career, people who shared opportunities and experiences, and people who have been great coaches and mentors to me.
