1) What would you like future generations of women and diverse gender professionals to know about their voice, leadership, or gender equity?

I want future generations of women and diverse gender professionals to know that their voice matters and that their perspective is invaluable. Gender equity isn’t just about equal representation, but also about the freedom to lead in their own unique way. This should be celebrated!  Leadership comes in many forms, and the most effective leaders are those who embrace their authenticity and bring their whole selves to the table. Don't be afraid to speak up, to share your experience and perspective, to challenge the status quo, and to believe in your ability to create change.

2) What is the biggest challenge facing women in our industry today and how do you overcome it?

I believe one of the biggest challenges women face today in many industries is the lack of representation in leadership positions and the persistent gender bias that (still!) exists at all levels. This can lead to being overlooked, underestimated, or held to higher standards than their male counterparts. To overcome this, it's important to continuously advocate for oneself, build a strong network of mentors and allies, and seek out opportunities for development and visibility. Women should also lean into their strengths, whether it’s collaboration, empathy, or innovation, and be vocal about their accomplishments. Creating and fostering spaces where women support and lift each other up is key to overcoming these barriers.

3) What is the most important thing you have learned that makes you an effective and inspirational leader?

I have learned so much along my career journey, but I would say the most important thing I’ve learned is that effective leadership is about empowering others. As a leader, it’s essential to that we take the time to get to know those we work with, to listen actively, to really understand their challenges and aspirations, and use that knowledge to guide and support them. Inspirational leadership isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being authentic, showing vulnerability, and being open to learning from those around you. Don't try and be someone you aren't - show up as you are! I believe people are inspired by leaders who make them feel seen, heard, and valued and appreciated, and who lead with empathy and a sense of purpose.

4) How do you advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in a meaningful way as a leader?

Advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) requires constant learning, intentional action and consistent effort. I do my very best to champion diverse voices, make sure all individuals feel empowered to contribute, and ensuring we are holding space for everyone!

5) What healthy habits do you employ to maintain your mental health and well-being?

Such an important question!  I try and get outside as much as I can, I exercise, eat healthy, try and get enough sleep, but also recognize when my body just needs rest and I try and find moments each week to ensure I am getting what I need to reset and refresh!  Oh and I love a true crime documentary

6) Can you share any past experiences where you successfully negotiated aspects such as salary and increased responsibility with your scope of work?

Try and approach these conversations with as much information as you can - know your worth - and don't be afraid to speak up and share what you feel you've done to deserve increased responsibility and salary raise. It's also important to focus not only on what you're doing now, but how you will continue to advance the business in the future.

7) What is the greatest piece of business advice you have received from a mentor or sponsor?

Always find your voice in a room!

8) How can we best empower and support women & gender-diverse professionals in their organizations?

Empowering and supporting women and gender-diverse professionals in organizations requires a multifaceted approach that fosters inclusivity, offers opportunities for growth, and builds an environment where everyone can thrive.  Building an inclusive culture, recognizing the great work of women & gender diverse professionals, and establishing flexibility and adaptive work environments are both very important to ensure we are creative a workplace where everyone feels seen, valued and heard and can thrive and succeed!
