Excellence in Allyship

Sherif Guorgui

The Excellence in Allyship award recognizes exceptional individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing women's careers and promoting equality and equity for women. They show solidarity and understanding for their female counterparts and beyond. They work to raise awareness around male privilege in the workplace, and stand beside women as their equals by being active participants - and encouraging others to engage - in the conversation around gender equality in the workplace and work to challenge the ‘norm’.

As the President of the FIP-Community Pharmacy Section and the recipient of the Excellence in Allyship Shine Bright award, Sherif Guorgui stands as a beacon of support and advocacy for women in the workplace. His deep commitment to allyship is evident in his ability to listen with intention, ensuring that every woman feels heard, understood, and empowered. By valuing diverse perspectives, Sherif has cultivated an environment where women can thrive.

Many women colleagues have flourished under Sherif’s mentorship and guidance. His advice, attuned to the unique challenges women often encounter in the workplace, has been a critical resource for many. As a mentor and active sponsor, he consistently champions women for growth opportunities, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to excel. His unwavering celebration of women’s achievements, both large and small, has fostered a culture of pride and recognition, lifting others as he rises.

During Women's History Month in October 2020, Sherif organized a spotlight series celebrating women in pharmacy. What began as a one-month initiative blossomed into a year-long weekly celebration, honoring women leaders from across the globe, including Australia, Canada, England, and the United States.

Beyond his direct contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion within his team, Sherif has positioned DEI as a strategic priority for the entire organization. His commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable workplace shines through his actions, setting a powerful example of allyship that extends far beyond his immediate sphere.
